About Monitor Lizards

There are more than 30 different varieties of monitor lizards ranging in size from 8 inches (20 cm) to over 10 feet (3 m) long. The emerald tree monitor, known for its vivid coloration, is the only known monitor to be omnivorous, feeding on fruit, berries, insects, and small animals. It thrives in tropical forests, palm swamps, and cocoa plantations in New Guinea and Australia.
