Goat plastic animal

Our next new plastic farm animal is a Nanny goat. She's small and perfect for a shoebox diorama or a model farm. Some model railroaders like to use our small plastic animals for just such projects.

Our Plastic Nanny Goat

Our plastic domestic nanny goat is just a fraction under 2 inches from nose to tail, and stands 1 5/8 inches tall. Made of white plastic, and painted two shades of brown, this plastic goat would be great fun for a miniature farm, model train layout, school project, farm diorama, Christmas manger scene, or used as a toy or collectible plastic animal. Check out our other goat toys and gifts.

About Goats

The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the Bovidae family and is closely related to the sheep. Both sheep and goats are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over three hundred distinct breeds of goat. Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species. Goats have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world. In the twentieth century they also became popular as pets. Goat meat from younger animals is called kid or cabrito, and from older animals is sometimes called chevon, or in some areas “mutton,” although mutton is usually refers to the meat of grown sheep. Female goats are referred to as does or nannies. The term "Nanny goat" originated in the 1700s. Males as bucks or Billies, and the term "Billy goat" originated in the 1800s. The babies and young goats are called "kids." Both males and females can have horns, although horns are not found in every variety of Nanny goats. Goats are ruminants with four-chambered stomachs like cows. Goats have strange-looking eyes, with light-colored horizontal pupils; the irises are usually pale, so the eyes are easier for us to see than in many hoofed animals. The unusual shape of the eye increase peripheral depth perception. Both Nanny and Billy goats have beards, and a goat can live between about 13 and 18 years.

Our hedgehog replica has a hard plastic coating and a soft inner body possibly made of foam. It is an excellent toy for children because it is light weight and durable. It serves as an educational toy for a science project or as a gag or unusual gift. Check out our other hedgehog toys and gifts.

About Hedgehogs

The hedgehog is a small spiny nocturnal mammal which feeds primarily on insects. It gets its name because it is found frequently among hedgerows and has a small pig-like snout. The hedgehog has quills like a porcupine, except that they neither sting nor come free from the hedgehog's body. The hedgehog has actually few predators. Occasionally the hedghog is annoyed by larger mammals such as foxes but, in response, roll up into a little ball to protect its soft belly. The hedgehog controls insect populations, but is vulnerable to agricultural and household pesticides. It lives for about seven years and produces litters of 3-4 at least twice a year. Like many nocturnal creatures, the hedgehog is often run over by cars during the night.

Plastic mystery monkey - can you identify our new primate?

Toy Primates, Plastic Mystery Monkey Lee has done a fantastic job of identifying our new plastic primates. In the process he learned a lot about Old World monkeys, New World monkeys, teeth, claws, paws, brachiation, prehensile tails, short tails, lack of tails, tufts, etc. But he was unable to match characteristics of this plastic monkey to the real world. If you have an idea, please let us know! If you're the first and we use your identification, we can work out an appropriate gift! We specialise in realistic animal toys and gifts, and we do care about the species names! Sometimes it's impossible to get toy animals that are true to life, but we do the best with what's available. Sometimes they are very accurate, and when they aren't we usually comment on it. Many of our customers are animal-lovers, and many use these animals in school projects for dioramas or for show-and-tell with their reports.

Green animals

Green, green, and green! For Think Green Thursday, I've collected a number of our animals that come in green and asked them to pose nicely for us! They were happy to do it! Can you find the alligator eyeglass holder? He's one of my favorites, but he seems a bit shy. Just a hint: he's near the middle of the photo. We are also thinking green with this nice "Mountain Tapir Peace" tote bag that you can see along with other items made from the same design on CafePress. So, green is for the green animals and for using fewer plastic and paper bags. It's also for what we do at the Tapir Preservation Fund. We raise money for tapir conservation, which helps save habitat in rainforests of Central America, South America, and Southeast Asia, aiding in keeping the tapir species in existence, keeping the habitat green and growing, and helping in that way to keep our planet green!

"O" is for Octopus, Opossum, Okapi

These charming "dancing octopus" resin fridge magnets are available in our online gift shop.

You can also find this curly-tentacled plastic octopus in our shop along with a gorgeous stuffed octopus and many more plastic octopi.

"O" is also for okapi, and we have TWO different plastic okapis! Take your pick, or get them both.

Another very popular animal that starts with "O" is the opossum. We have two. The one shown above is a cute, snuggly opossum finger puppet with soft-as-silk fur.

Our stuffed plush opossum is approximately life-size and looks very real. It's actually confused a few people and is bought as a gag gift as often as it is for a cuddly "pet" opossum.

The paint on the outside is different from the paint above, because the pieces below are from the sabertooth cat. Check them out on our web site. They're fun, they're challenging and they make wonderful gifts. If you can't put it together yourself, ask someone under the age of 12 to do it!
