One of our customers asked for a size comparison of our three very realistic tapir replicas. Although they look like a happy family with mom, dad, and baby, there are two different species here. The baby and the tapir on the left are Baird's tapirs from Central America and the tapir on the right is an Asian (Malayan) tapir. The Baird's tapirs are made by CollectA, and the Asian tapir is by Safari, Ltd. The saize ratios of the adults are fairly accurate as well, with the Malayan tapir being larger than the Baird's. You can find all three in our online store.

Our "T is for Tapir" T-shirts

The handsome Baird's tapir (Tapirus bairdii) on this t-shirt and sweatshirt was drawn by Audrey Jakab, an artist who lives in New Jersey, USA, as a fundraiser especially for the Tapir Preservation Fund. Needless to say, Audrey is a tapir fan. She once got to meet "the very famous" April the Tapir at the Belize Zoo!

This no-pocket shirt is black with the drawing printed in white. It resembles the type of animal drawings used in children's books in earlier centuries. The fabric is 50% cotton, 50% polyester, and is light enough for summer. The width won't shrink, and the length will shrink only about an inch. The small print underneath "T is for Tapir" says "© 1999 A. Jakab" on the left and "Tapir Preservation Fund" on the right. Come see our wonderful assortment of shirts.
