Picasso Triggerfish Pin - New in Our Store!

This beautiful and unusual Picasso triggerfish pin is one of the new pieces of jewelry in our online store. Since it needed a nice new home, I've just spent some time reorganizing the fish menu page and arranging the fish more into species types or habitat groups. No, "menu" in this case does not mean food, it's just a way to find all of our plastic fish, stuffed fish, fish jewelry, and whatever fishy products we have in the store! I'll be revamping the painted jewelry section soon and adding more to it. Here's the painted animal jewelry we have online as of today.

Something fishy?

Sorry, none of the products sold by Tapir and Friends Animal Store are edible! The small tasty exotic fish in the foreground is part of a luncheon meal enjoyed by one of our Tapir and Friends Animal Store Blog loyal followers, Francisca, a wonderful friend of hers, and me this past April in the outskirts of Hong Kong near the Chinese border. You might enjoy visiting our fish "menu" page and see all our realistic plastic fish, stuffed sturgeon replica, fish jewelry and tropical fish eyeglass holders (peeper keepers). Please sample our products with your eyes and not with your mouth!

Sturgeon pin (fish jewelry)

Sturgeon Jewelry What about a fantastic realistic sturgeon pin for that special sturgeon-lover? This pin is hand made and hand painted in the USA. We have several in stock right now, and they're ready to ship as soon as you place your order in our secure shopping cart!

Fish and Wildlife Jewelry

These items are unique in the world of animal jewelry! Made in Washington and Idaho by a team of three U.S. artists, these high-quality pins or tie tacks are exceptional. Each exquisitely detailed piece is cast in pewter and painted by hand. The finish is extremely smooth and shiny, as you can see by the highlight from the scanner. Each pin is secured by two sturdy tacks on the back so it doesn't skew sideways or turn upside down, and the finished product is not only gorgeous, but satisfyingly substantial in weight. They can be used as lapel pins, hat pins, tie tacks, and more. These collectible animal pins are heirloom quality, and the details are so realistic, they are found in museum gift shops and bought by organizations in need of the perfect animal to represent their group. In fact, if you're interested in having the name of your organization put on an item, write to us for details. You will find more fish and animals by the same artists listed on our Hand-Painted Jewelry page.

The sturgeon pin measures about 2-3/8 inches long by about 1/2 inch tall. Check out our terrific selection of fish jewelry.

Paddlefish jewelry - just when you thought you'd seen it all!

This unusual fish comes in a beautifully detailed hand-painted pin, believe it or not! We also have the paddlefish in gold finish, bronze finish, and the original pewter casting. I think the painted ones are amazing!

The paddlefish lives the American Midwest and can be found in the Mississippi and Missouri River systems as well as in the Great Lakes. The mouth looks small here, but it can gape wider than the height of the fish. These fish are extremely ancient, showing up in the fossil record 300 to 400 million years ago - about 50 million years before the dinosaurs. American paddlefish reach a size of several feet long, while those in the Yangtse River of China are found up to about 9 feet. Rumors tell of Chinese paddlefish reaching sizes of 23 feet long, but these stories are not substantiated.

Check out our web site to order paddlefish jewelry!

Animal jewelry (fish jewelry) - yellowfin tuna and bluefin tuna - in colors bound to charm you!

These two attractive tuna pins can be found in Tapir and Friends Online Gift Shop. They are hand-painted in the USA. The yellowfin tuna (top) comes in a variety of paint finishes, some more subdued than the one seen here. These make wonderful gifts, and can be used as hat pins, lapel pins, and bold tie tacs. While the yellowfin tuna is still found abundantly, the bluefin tuna has been fished to critical levels. It might make a good mascot for fish-loving conservationists. Tuna are interesting fish in that, like the mackerel, they have warm blood, whereas most fish are cold-blooded. This gives them the ability to survive in a wider range of water temperatures and gives them great strength for swimming and for fighting the prospect of being caught. Possibly this is one of the reasons tuna have been so popular among sports fishers. They are also, of course, highly sought for food by humans.
