About Gorillas

The gorilla is the largest living primate and inhabits cloud forest jungles and lowland jungles in Africa. The lowland gorilla tends to weigh between 200 and 500 pounds and stands about 5 feet tall. It walks on its knuckles in search of fruits and shoots to eat. Gorillas, genetically speaking, are the animals most similar to humans. Also, lowland gorillas live in elaborate social groups of about 15 members with one dominant male, and lead a peaceful existence. The gorilla communicates to other troop members through a series of hoots. Gorillas face a terrific struggle to survive. Widespread poaching, and slaughter by hungry invading armies, has decimated the gorilla poulation. Through massive conservation efforts to establish safe zones in parks under the watchful eye of wardens, the gorilla population has managed to withstand total extinction.

The male has a taller and more upright dorsal fin than the female. These cetaceans live their entire lives in small, close-knit family groups, called pods, of 6-40 whales. Zebra and Tree Frog Peeper Keepers Back in Stock

Several of our most popular animal eyeglass holders (Peeper Keepers) are back in stock and ready to ship. These include the tree frog and zebra shown here. Also back in stock is the dog (beagle or basset, it could be either) and a few more. Check out our page of carved wood animal eyeglass holders. Some of the species are diappearing, as the manufacturer has moved on to other projects. We're sad about this and so are our customers, so we'll try to keep you supplied as long as we can!

Parrot Peeper Keepers - get them while they're hoppin'

Among the animal eyeglass holders we still have in stock are these cute and colorful realistic parrots! If red is your color or birds are your game, do check them out before our final stock disappears!

The Peeper Keeper has been discontinued by the manufacturer, but as of this post date, we still have a number of parrots left, as well as quite a few other animals. Once they are gone, they're gone forever unless some other company picks up the line, and we have not seen that happening.

You supply the glasses - the cool striped ones here are just for show. We think the parrot will like whatever you put on it, and and we know that he can see with your prescription! These wonderful eyeglass holders make a great decoration for the hall, bedside, or next to the computer - wherever you typically leave your glasses. They can also be used for business cards and recipes. What fun!

Moose Peeper Keepers - the last of a dying breed

We stocked up for Christmas, and we still have a few moose left for you. The moose comes, as below, without the peepers. You supply them (we think he can see equally well with any prescription). For his part, our moose helps you keep the glasses where you can find them, or out of the way so nobody sits on them. If you've lost your glasses as many times as "someone I know," this may be just the ticket.

Once we've sold out of any of the selection of animal Peeper Keepers we still have left, that may be the end. There are a few animals we can still get, but we never know until we check on it. These eyeglass holders, very sadly, have been discontinued by the manufacturer. We have a number of animals still in stock, so you'll need to get them while you still can. They are a favorite for holidays and birthdays, but they probably won't be around by next Christmas.

Orange housecat Peeper Keepers

This orange cat Peeper Keeper is among the several animal types we still have available! Once these adorable carved wood animal eyeglass holders are gone, they are gone for good. Sadly, they've been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Made of carved and painted wood, this functional sculpture is about 6 1/4 inches tall to the tips of it's ears.

What a classy way to keep your reading or sunglasses from getting lost on your coffee table, bedside table, hall shelf, etc. You can also use this painted wood sculpture to display business cards with pizazz and pride! Try holding recipe cards in the kitchen, too.

"Peeper Keepers" are fun and practical, and come in over 40 different animal types. See our other Peeper Keeper animals here. If we don't have an animal you're looking for on our web site, please ask! Be sure to look over our other house cat toys and gifts.

Goofy gorilla eyeglass holder Peeper Keepers

Do you know any gorilla fans? Give them our goofy gorilla eyeglass holders! Seriously, it may bethe last year we can get these wonderful animal eyeglass holders. Many of the animals we have in stock are selling out, and they are being discontinued by the manufacturer!

Some animals have disappeared from our inventory already. You can still get this nice gorilla. It makes a unique gift and is a great way to keep those items you tend to misplace . . . like your glasses!

Even their Labra-puppy likes this zebra

A note arrived with a recent order for a carved wood zebra eyeglass holder (Peeper Keeper). Here's the comment:

This is the second one we ordered. Our puppy Lab did a number on the first zebra's nose! It is now my wife's backup!

Popular panda eyelass holders will be gone before Christmas

Carved wood animal eyeglass holders (Peeper Keepers) have been some of our most popular and successful products ever! To our dismay, they have been discontinued by the manufacturer and there are only a few left. The animal types have been disappearing over the last few months, and many that we have in stock today will be gone before the Christmas/Hanukkah season.

Three that we are sure will be sold out well before the holiday season are the panda peepers, the gorilla peepers, and the hippo.

Come visit our Animal Peeper Keeper page and order online. They are only available while they last, and your order will be shipped as soon as we get it. If we are out of stock in our location, we will contact you about the availability in the warehouse. In that case, shipping could take up to two weeks, but we will let you know ASAP what the status is on your order.

Tapir and Friends Wildlife World has been doing business online since 1997. Check out the many realistic (or nearly realistic) animal toys and gifts on our extensive web site!

"L" is for Lots of different animals!

"L" is an easy letter to match with animals in our gift shop! We have lots of toy lemurs, and here are two of them. We have plastic lemurs (two are shown here), and three different stuffed lemurs: the ring-tailed lemur, the sifaka lemur, and the beautiful and mysterious-looking red-ruffed lemur.

Next comes our stuffed leopard cub made by Hansa. This is truly a beautiful animal! It's so soft, and the paws are soft, too. It's a baby, and would make a wonderful gift for ages child to adult. The cute pink nose is made of silky plastic.

We have more leopards, too! This little plastic leopard replica would make a good addition to your shoebox diorama for school, or simply as a collectible plastic animal.

We can't leave the letter "L" without talking about lions! We still have lion Peeper Keeper eyeglass holders. They are being discontinued by the manufacturer because they want to move on to other products; this wonderfully popular series has been a departure from their core business items (glass), but as of today, we still have our carved wood lion peepers! See lots of other lions in our gift shop, too!

Have Fun with Peeper Keeper Eyeglass Holders

Our animal eyeglass holders are fun for all! If you don't wear glasses, you can give them as gifts to someone who does. Our peeper keepers are also good for holding business cards or other small pieces of paper. We even knew someone who used them to hold headphones when they were not being used. What a great idea!

As of today we have several hummingbird peepers in stock along with a large assortment of other animals. Come see them today!

Animal Peeper Keeper eyeglass holders - important message!

GET THEM WHILE THEY LAST! We've just sold out of the eagle you seen here, and they are DISCONTINUED!

You may recognize this popular style of animal eyeglass holders. For the past few years they have been growing in popularity on our web site. They're especially popular around the Christmas/Hanukkah season. However, we've learned from the importer that they will no longer be producing them. There's nothing wrong with the product, but these wonderful Peeper Keepers were actually a sideline for the importer, and they are moving on to new products.

The long and short of it is, as we sell out of any animal style (and we have more than 40 animals), we may find out that we cannot get any more. If you like these eyeglass holders and have thought of buying them this season or in the future as a birthday gift or other gift - or for yourself! - the time to get them is NOW! A number of the animal types will become permanently unavailable during this holiday season and others will last to an unknown date in 2009. The products that are in the US at this moment are all that we can get. No new ones will be imported. Some animal types, like this eagle, are now gone. You may find one in a brick-and-mortar retail store somewhere if you're very lucky (and no, we don't know who carries them), but our source is no longer available. With certain animal types, there may be enough in the US right now to last into 2009, but it's hard to predict which ones they will be until we try to get them.

If you are interested in eagles other than this Peeper Keeper, see our collection of eagle replicas, toys and gifts at Tapir and Friends online!
