Brand new! Stuffed white or snowy owl in Tapir and Friends Store

This is the stuffed version of the snowy owl (or white owl - it has many other names, too, which are listed on its very own web page on our site). Compare pictures of the real white owl here on a Google image search! Our white owl is very lifelike and compelling! It has been discontinued by the manufacturer (which seems to be the way of some of our favorite animals - like model changes in the auto or fashion industry). So, we stocked up the other day in order to bring you this owl for as long as we can. Come see our new stuffed owl!

She loves our animals!

Here's another letter that made our day:

Dear Sue, thank you for the Opossum, the meerkat, and the tazmania devil. Your a very nice person. your the best stuffed animal maker in the world. Thank you so very very much. you are a kind person.
From Teryn

Thanks, Teryn. You make our work a total delight!

Beanie Babies - second time around

I discovered the world of cute and lovable Beanie Babies a little later than many. I don't collect the collectibles or price check for rarity. One day Lee and I found a cache of used, great-condition Beanie Babies at a garage sale, and we were hooked. They were adorable. They had names. What fun! There were so many. The price was right, and we bought them for our online animal store. Putting them online was a bit labor-intensive because there were so many individuals, but it was fun. Then we saw that people were finding them, and that selling just the right beanie to someone who was looking for it made them happy. It made us happy to know they had found the one they were looking for!

At The Seattle Gift Show several years ago, I learned that the Ty company will only sell to brick and mortar businesses, not to online-only retailers. That's what we were at the time, so as far as buying new beanies, we were out of luck. Since then, we've moved into our own brick and mortar place (actually, mostly wood, on pilings over the Columbia River) but we haven't sought out the Ty company, we still look for great-condition used Beanie Babies that need new homes. We try to keep our beanie web page updated and give you the info you need about the tag condition. We have fun searching out beanies and enjoying them while they're in our shop. We sell them both in the "brick and mortar" shop and on the Internet. One way or the other, come check them out! We keep the prices at a stable $4.00 per Beanie Baby. Sometimes you can find the more unusual ones in our shop, and the price is still the same. We also carry Beanie Buddies when we can find them (the fur is SO soft it's almost unbelievable), Attic Treasures, Teenie Beanies, and other cute animals and characters by Ty. It's so much fund finding new ones!

When we moved into our store, I took the beanies out of their dark, dull plastic bins that had served well when we were only online, and I put them into a bright purple display box in our showroom. It's so colorful, it's a delight to walk into our shop each day and see their adorable faces looking at me! The picture below was taken in poor light at the end of the day. As soon as I can, I'll try to remember to get a nice new photo that shows the colors!

Stuffed tarantula (plush spider)

This stuffed spider isn't a new item in our gift shop, but it's a new photo. This is such a nice stuffed spider, but it was hard to differentiate the body from the background in the photo we used from the catalog, so I took another picture. We usually use our own photos, but in this case for some reason we didn't, until now. Now even in the menu photo the legs will show clearly against the background. You have to see the larger picture, though, to see the wonderfuly sparkling eyes! Come see the spider here and order! This stuffed spider is super soft and cuddly!

Attractive and weird stuffed animal . . . the krill!

This stuffed krill is one of the more unusual stuffed animals in our online animal gift shop! Check out The Discovery Channel Web Site to see what real Antarctic krill are about. There have been some remarkable recent findings. Here's a teaser from the site: "The discovery radically changes the scientific understanding of the major food source for marine animals including fish, squid, penguins, seals and whales, said the study, published in the journal Current Biology."

Loads of new beanie babies in our online store

We've been collecting pre-loved beanies for you again, and we finally got a chance to list them on our web site. Please come take a look at our beanie baby page. We've got the traditional Ty Beanie Babies at US $4.00 each, Teenie Beanie Babies at $4.00 each, Beanie Buddies at $5.00 each, Ty Attic Treasures at $4.00 each and one Pluffies at $5.00. When you get to the page, scroll down to the long list and . . . have fun! We are not collectors in that we don't price them by value. We price all the same in each category (Teenies, Beanie Buddies, etc.). Often our patrons are young children who just want a cute stuffed animal for a reasonable price, and these certainly are cute! Other times collectors will find us to fill in their collections of harder-to-find animals. Everyone is welcome! There was one sad case where a lawnmower had ended the life of Nutsy the Squirrel, and we were thrilled when we could help two very sad boys replace Nutsy. When Nutsy arrived at his new home, he found that he already had a house with a Nutsy-sized bed, furniture, toys and playmates. The happy conclusion to the story made our day!

Starfoot stuffed tapir

Thanks for letting me know. Starfoot arrived yesterday, he's great. One of the things I like about ordering from the Tapir Gallery Gift Shop is the fact that you e-mail your customers as to when things have shipped.
