Stuffed Porcupine Hand Puppet

Porcupines are rodents best known for their coat of sharp spines, or quills, that defend them from predators. The porcupines include the third largest rodent, after the capybara and the mara. Most porcupines are about 25-36 inches (60-90 cm) long, with a 8-10 inch (20-25 cm) long tail. Weighing between 12-35 pounds (5-16 kg), they are rounded, large and slow. Porcupines come in various shades of brown, grey, and the unusual white. The name "porcupine" comes from combining the Latin for pig and French for spine, hence the nickname "quill pig" for the animal, according to Wikipedia.

Our captivating stuffed porcupine hand puppet measures 12 inches from nose to tail, stands 6 1/4 inches high and is very kid friendly. It's quills are soft fake fur, the claws are soft vinyl. The plastic eyes, filament whiskers, brown felt ears, pink fabric nostrils, legs and tail are securely fastened. The hand pocket, located under the tail, fits up to a grown-up-size hand and operates the head and front legs. It comes with an informational tag that includes an Iroquoise folktale about the porcupine's quills. Unlike many other puppets, this porcupine has all 4 feet so it is a cuddly stuffed toy as well as a puppet.
