Corinna Bechko Jewelry...and Capybaras

We consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to feature the work of several talented artists on our website. Corinna Bechko is not just a wonderful artist, she's also a pretty fantastic human being. She donates 20% of the proceeds from the sales in her Etsy store to TPF

Speaking of capybaras, we're about to make your day. Go here and prepare to be delighted! You're welcome.

Humpback Whale Toy

Perhaps there's nothing quite as beautiful and mysterious as the majestic whale. Gliding through the depths of the sea, these denizens of the deep capture our hearts and imaginations with their intelligence and their songs. If you're as mesmerized by these marvelous creatures as we are, then please check out our wonderful cetacean section

Plastic Monkeys

Sometimes we wonder strange things around here: did an Andrewsarchus eat the only successful time traveler? Why on Earth are baboon behinds bright red? We believe in asking questions at TPF because the search for answers is usually pretty fun, especially when animals are involved. If you've ever wondered about baboon posteriors, we have the answer for you! Apparently, it's all about fertility. Young, female baboons have bright red derrieres in order to let the males know they are ready to create more baboons. And now we know the answer to at least one of our questions. Only the Andrewsarchus knows the answer to the other one, and it isn't talking.

Andrewsarchus Toy and a Theory about Time Travel

Plastic Andrewsarchus at Tapir and Friends Animal Store

We have a theory about time travel here at Tapir and Friends. Secretly (well, not secret anymore), we believe that someone actually discovered time travel a long time ago, but instead of being decorated as a hero and written up in all the history books and scientific journals, our poor explorer got eaten right out of his time machine by an angry Andrewsarchus, and the rest, well, isn't history. Poor time traveler. If you'd like your own collection of extinct beasts, please visit our prehistoric life section. Enter at your own risk. They may or may not be hungry today.

Plastic Inostrancevia

We're expanding our prehistoric animal collection! Our newest addition is the Inostrancevia Permian Therapsid (try saying that three times fast. No, wait. Don't. It might summon an angry Andrewsarchus to eat you if you do it whilst looking into a gas station mirror). If prehistoric life makes you as happy as it does some of us here at Tapir and Friends, you must visit our prehistoric life section!

Egyptian Sphinx

Egyptian Sphinx at Giza Toy at Tapir and Friends Animal Store

Imagine traveling to ancient Thebes. You're hot, dusty, and tired. You want a bed, food, and some ouzo. But instead of an open gate, you encounter a tricksy sphinx who demands an answer to her riddle before you can enter the city. The question? "Which creature has one voice and yet becomes four-footed, two-footed, and three-footed?" Your weary brain struggles for an answer. Fortunately, genius strikes your neural pathways, and you answer, "Humans!" Ouzo, food, and a place to sleep are yours for the night! Whew.

If you'd like your own sphinx, look no further. Our sphinx is from Egypt, but we're sure she's related to the one in Thebes. We also have a partial pantheon of Egyptian gods and some pyramids. Be sure to check them out!

Flying Pig Keychains

Flying Pig Keychain at Tapir and Friends
Animal Store
"When pigs fly!" Most of the time when we hear this phrase, it means something is impossible. Not at Tapir and Friends. We think flying pigs are signs of hope and possibility...with just a dash of whimsy. Our flying pig is the perfect gift for those who scoff at the notion of impossibility and all the other dreamers in your life.
